Fred Dole currently holds the position of Section Double Bass in the Richmond Symphony, The Virginia Symphony Orchestra, and the West Virginia Symphony Orchestra, and teaches applied string bass at The College of William and Mary and Christopher Newport University. Mr. Dole earned a Bachelor of Music degree from the University of Illinois at Urbana/Champaign where he studied with Michael Cameron with additional studies with Catalin Rotaru. He earned a Master of Music Degree from the Peabody Conservatory where he studied with Paul Johnson with additional studies with John Hood and Rob Kesselman. He was a freelance musician throughout the Baltimore/Washington D.C. area and has played in numerous orchestras and chamber groups on the East Coast. In 2003, he was chosen as a Peabody String Fellow that allowed him to travel to Singapore to help open the Young Siew Toh Conservatory of Music and to perform with the Singapore Symphony.
